Transformation. Recent times have seen an uptick in the creation of artistic research projects, revealing exciting new approaches for both artistic work and research. The Department of Art and Research of the University of Applied Arts Vienna is internationally known as an important address in this context, and the documentation project “Understanding Art & Research” was created in conjunction with the university. The first part of the exhibition was showcased in New Zealand. Embracing the spirit of an open-ended research process, the publication can be continually expanded, or even personalized by visitors to the traveling exhibition. Phase, a generative font concept by Elias Hanzer, acts as the typographic centerpiece.
