“Austrian Nobel Prize”
FWF-Wittgenstein-Preis Winner
The Wittgenstein Prize is often referred to as the “Austrian Nobel Prize”, and rightly so! With winners awarded up to 1.5 million euros, it even surpasses the Nobel Prize itself, honoring the crème de la crème of science for outstanding and internationally pioneering leading research. In addition, the FWF also confers the START Prize, the most significant advancement grant for new researchers in Austria.

An award of this magnitude has to radiate clarity, self-confidence, and timelessness. The design must be as excellent as the scientists who win the awards. We have chosen a paper scroll — the Scientific Paper — as a symbol of how scientific knowledge is borne into the world, acting as our guiding theme. The excellent execution of the design was carried out in collaboration with the product designers of bE Design Studio, Klemens Schillinger and studio borowski.
